iFlag has launched the International Flag League, a new co-ed professional flag football competition with equal pay for men and women, building on its record-setting tournament operations to create a full development pathway from grassroots to paid play. The league aims to boost commercial growth in the sport through sponsorship, media rights, and ticketing while leveraging iFlag’s decade-long infrastructure to standardize professional competition and expand fan engagement.
“The professional league is a logical extension of the infrastructure and relationships we have developed over the past decade,” said Charles Davis, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of iFlag.
Mobile, Alabama: Spring Hill College announced it will start a women’s flag football program in the 2026–27 season, becoming the only four-year institution in South Alabama and the Gulf Coast to sponsor the sport. The NJSIAA executive committee unanimously approved advancing a proposal to sanction flag football as its 35th sport at the May full-membership meeting after a two-season pilot. Standardizing under NFHS rules and setting clear playoff structures will expand high school flag football participation and elevate competitive consistency statewide.
“Moving flag football in line with other sports, there will be power points run this season as a model,” NJSIAA executive director Colleen Maguire said.
