Greenville County Schools Launch Girls’ Flag Football Pilot with Carolina Panthers Grant
✨ Coach, Parents & Player Tips
Coach’s Clipboard: Appoint a weekly “playlist pilot” to pick the warm-up jams and kick off practice hype—music duty becomes team ownership, confidence soars, and you’ll collect enough sideline laughs to power through any drill.
Postgame Parents: When they clean up their room, hand them a backpack stuffed with books and challenge them to do five squats every time they drop something inside—it turns chores into secret strength sessions, fires up their legs, and might even earn you both some celebratory high-fives.
Players Snap: Start each practice in a tight circle where everyone yells “we’ve got each other’s back”—hesitate and you knock out five burpees on the spot; trust isn’t built on blank stares.

🏅 Panthers support girls’ flag football in Greenville County schools
Greenville County high schools launched their first girls’ flag football season with over 300 athletes from 13 schools competing in a Championship Tournament, backed by a $32,500 grant and equipment kits from Carolina Panthers Charities. This pilot program aims to build access to athletics for young women and pave the way for future varsity sanctioning in the state.
“They wanted this opportunity,” Nance said of the players. “If we’ve got 300 girls playing, I would say 200 of them are first-time athletes for us. They’re part of a team, they’re being coached, they’re learning how to be a teammate, they’re learning unique skills.”
