The Houston Texans’ “She’s Next” initiative has driven girls flag football participation in Texas from 18 to over 150 teams in Houston and projects 270 statewide by 2027, positioning the sport for official UIL recognition. With national momentum from its upcoming Olympic debut and growing NCAA involvement, the UIL Legislative Council will vote June 10 on sanctioning girls flag football, potentially making Texas the latest state to formalize the sport.
